The Assisi Renewal Centre is the first of its kind which hosted the first charismatic retreat in Malayalam in Kerala. It was in September 24, 1976, under the leadership of a Fransiscan Capuchin priest, Servent of God, Fr. Armond OFM Cap. Since then the centre continues to carry out the task of giving spiritual guidance and healing to hundreds and thousands of God’s children and Assisi Renewal Centre still retains its singular attraction and spiritual atmosphere. Many other directors and animators who relayed and shared that lamp have made the center blooming, of which Fr. Gratian OFM Cap’s name marks the history. The retreat center began its functioning in 1976 September 24, with the first residential charismatic retreat in Malayalam. All the more the retreat center is blessed over as it is situated in the holy place of Bharananganam, where the shrine of the first women saint, an FCC sister, St. Alphonsa is there. It’s hardly 2 minutes or 600 metres to reach the shrine from the center.
